About Us
North Canterbury Chess (NCC) is dedicated to promoting and supporting chess in the North Canterbury region of New Zealand.
We formed 12 September 2001. The club is a non-profit organization.
Meetings
We generally meet twice a month, on the first and third Tuesday. Meetings run from 7:00 PM until around 9:30 PM.
Location
Meetings are held at the Rangiora War Memorial Centre, on the corner of High Street & Albert Street.

Club Activities
Throughout the year, we organize various competitions including:
- Club Ladder (our main club championship)
- King's Gambit Tournament
- Midwinter Blitz
- End of Year Blitz
Special events and competitions may be held at other times and venues. See our Calendar for dates of these events.
Motto
Aut Vincere Aut Mori

This Latin saying translates to: "Either conquer or die!". This represents our passionate engagement with the game and our refusal to yield.
Membership
New members are always welcome, regardless of playing strength. We have players ranging from beginners to experienced tournament players.
- Adult - $45 year. Adult members are aged between 16 and 60 years on the 1st January.
- Senior - $40 year. Seniors are aged over 60 years on the 1st January.
- Junior - $20 year. Junor members are aged less than 16 on the 1st January. Please Note: Junior members do not have voting rights, and may not hold the positions of President, Vice-President or Secretary/Treasurer.
- Family Membership - Family Membership can be applied to members of the same immediate family group or whanau. The subscription will not exceed 75% of the total for same number of individuals.
